Sounds familiar? North Korea launches its own tablet called the "iPad".
The Ryonghung iPad has been designed to let users read the news, work on documents and use more than 40 pre-installed apps, including one that can diagnose 1,200 ailments and suggest remedies. Its name appears to be a clear violation of the company’s trademark and an insider says it's unlikely that the firm will take action.
‘You may not use or register, in whole or in part, Apple, iPod, iTunes, Macintosh, iMac, or any other Apple trademark,’ the guidelines state, ‘including Apple-owned graphic symbols, logos, icons, or an alteration thereof, as or as part of a company name, trade name, product name, or service name except as specifically noted in these guidelines.’
In the past, North Korea has also released an operating system that appeared to be a clear imitation of Apple’s OS X, called Red Star 3.0.
And, there have even been reports that Kim Jong Un uses an actual Apple iMac, according to Gizmodo.
It’s unclear how much the Ryonghung iPad is being sold for, but the ad claims it is ‘now popular among customers.’
