Fortnite Battle Royale: Everything You Need to Know

Fortnite! The video game that’s taken over the internet. Let’s unpack the package and find out what is this ‘Fortnite’.

Fortnite is a third-person online multiplayer shooter game that was developed by Epic games and was released in the summer of 2017. It’s a survival game that puts you in a competition against you and perhaps some friends with an open world environment that wants to eliminate your character – typically 100 players and there’s always just one winner!

Gameplay
The logic of the game play is simple. 100 players are dropped from a floating battle bus onto an island where they need to fight against others until there's a survivor left or the final team. Also, as the game progresses, a randomly shrinking circle known as the storm forces players into a closer proximity. The game is also a race against the clock, not just a fight against other players.
You land with just a pickaxe, you need to acquire guns, resources such as med kits, shields and building materials from trees, cars and objects to build a walls and platforms against enemies. -  Every object in the game (except mountains) is destructible. While your pickaxe could be used in attacking someone, it’s best used to harvest building materials from trees and other free-standing objects to make your fortress. You basically start with nothing, running in fear of everything. Fortnite battle royale just has that unique ingredient that makes it stand out from other competitive online games such as PUBG.

Fortnite can be played alone or with friends. You can play with up to two players in duos mode or four players in the squad mode.

Where can Fortnite be played?
Fortnite Battle Royale is currently free to download on certain iOS mobile devices, PC, PS4 and Xbox One. You need a device that runs iOS 11 and anything older than the iPhone 6 or iPad Mini 4 won’t be compatible. It can be gotten from epicgames.com for PC and can be downloaded on the iOS App store on your compatible iOS devices.
Fortnite currently supports cross-platform play with mobile, PC and console. Android support is coming within the next few months and you can sign up here to get notified. You can download it here on your compatible iOS devices.

The experience is trilling and mind blowing. It's getting incredibly popular because its available on mobile platforms and also free to play. Recently, Drake, Travis Scott and NFL rookie - JuJu Smith-Schuster joined a Fortnite pro-gamer, Tyler "Ninja" Belvins to play Fortnite on Twitch, which broke a record for the most-viewed stream by a single player.
